He is risen!

Happy Resurrection Day, friends! It’s been a beautiful week celebrating the Easter Octave with you. Let’s keep celebrating the seven-week festival of Eastertide, also known as The Great Fifty Days.

Today’s letter includes:

  • Community practices and prayers for the Second Sunday in Easter

Plus, for paid subscribers

  • Today’s art and music pairing

  • Contemplative prompts to help you respond to today’s art

  • The Take Up Something New Review

  • An Eastertide bucket list of 50 Ways to Celebrate all 50 Days

Now, let’s begin our meditation for the Second Sunday in Easter

Communion

Read today’s lectionary passages from the Book of Common Prayer (Year C)

Acts 5:12a, 17-22, 25-29; Psalm 111; Revelation 1:9-19; John 20:19-31

Pray out loud the Collect for the First Sunday in Easter from the Book of Common Prayer.

Almighty and everlasting God, who in the Paschal mystery established the new covenant of reconciliation: Grant that all who have been reborn into the fellowship of Christ’s Body may show forth in their lives what they profess by their faith; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen Amen.

Contemplation

Begin with a simple breath prayer from today’s lectionary:

Inhale: Living One, you hold

Exhale: the keys of death forever

Repeat gently until you sense you are ready to move forward.
