Come, Living Word, Let Hope Take Root In Us
Day 8, SECOND SUNDAY IN ADVENT
Blessed Advent, friends! Each Sunday in Advent, we’ll pause together for a brief reflection shaped by Communion, Contemplation, and Companions—three ways of grounding ourselves in God, in our own hearts, and in the wider Church before we enter the week. Thank you for joining me in this season of prayerful anticipation.
Let’s begin today’s mediation.
COMMUNION
Joining the Church’s rhythm of word and prayer.
Read
Isaiah 11:1-10; Psalm 72:1-15; Romans 13:1-13; Matthew 3:1-121
Pray
Blessed Lord, who caused all Holy Scriptures to be written for our learning: Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that by patience and the comfort of your holy Word we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
CONTEMPLATION
Opening our hearts, minds, and bodies through beauty, listening, and stillness.
Light the first and second candles of Advent as you pray.
Inhale: Come, Living Word,
Exhale: let hope take root in us.
